Tyreke Evans is season's best rookie; edges Curry and Jennings
Sacramento Kings guard Tyreke Evans was named as the NBA's Rookie of the Year for the 2009-2010 season. Evans averaged 20.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.8 assists for the season. He ranked first in scoring, second in assists, and fifth in rebounds among rookies. The Kings, despite having the worst record last season and only got the 4th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, got a prized pick in Evans. One thing to consider was the absence of the number 1 overall pick Blake Griffin for the entire season. Should Griffin had been healthy, the ROY race would be a lot more tighter. Evans got a total of 491 votes, 67 of them first place. Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry was second with 391 votes, 43 are first round, while Milwaukee Bucks guard Brandon Jennings finished third with 204 points, 12 first round votes.Despite the very impressive showing of Curry and Jennings, Evans was the most consistent among all rookies. Curry averaged between 19.2 points to 22.1 points every month. Jennings had a very great start, even scoring 55 points only in his 7th game in the NBA, while Curry has been the best rookie nearing the end of the season. Both Jennings and Curry were inconsistent...
Houston Rocket's new coach
Rick Adelman, with the best winning percentage of any coach who has never won a National Basketball Association title, is now the new coach of Rocket, which led by the Chinese center Yao Ming and guard Tracy McGrady. Adelman, 60, compiled a 752-481 record in 16 seasons as a coach with the Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors and Portland Trail Blazers. His 14 playoff appearances included trips to the 1990 and 1992 NBA Finals with Portland. He had a pretty good track record over the years. I hope he could bring something new to Rocket, as well as do something good in Rocket. Looking forward to his outstanding performance in Rocket's new season.
NBA Rookie Of The Year Award
At the start of the NBA 2009-2010 Season, Brandon Jennings of the Milwaukee Bucks made a big burst as he scored a career high of 46 points on just his rookie season in the NBA. But as the season continues, he was scouted and defended well. With the addition of scorer John Salmons from the Chicago Bulls, Jennings was contented to be a real point guard of the team. Tyreke Evans of the Sacramento Kings and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors pick up its game to another level and remains consistent as the season of the NBA ends. Tyreke Evans led his team, and is the center point of his teams offense. As Evans continued to play as a rookie-like-veteran-player, Curry suddenly made his name into a contender of the NBA Rookie of the year award. Curry made some all around effort in the second half of the season and even leads his team in scoring in some games. It boils down to Tyreke Evans and Stephen Curry on winning the Rookie of the Year Award.. I think that Tyreke Evans will win. What can you say guys?
Rick Adelman is new head coach
Rick Adelman, the former coach of the Sacramento Kings when they had a rivalry with the Lakers has just been named the new head coach of the Houston Rockets. How does this affect the team? Will this equate to playoff progress knowing that Adelman has been successful in the past in guiding his teams through the playoffs? How do you think will T-Mac and Yao respond?
Does anyone collect Sports Trading Cards?
Hey everyone!I'm pretty new to this website and was wondering if there are any people who collect sports trading cards here?I'm an avid collector of NBA and NFL trading cards. My favorite NBA player is Mike Bibby of the Sacramento Kings and I also collect NFL autographs especially players from the Minnesota Vikings! Anyone else?
Farmar Makes Historic Appearance as Lakers Demolished Kings
Jordan Farmar played the final 7:30 of the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Sacramento Kings, scoring four points ang grabbing four boards for the Lakers in a 126-103 win against the Kings hours after the former UCLA Bruin scored 18, dished six assists, and snatched thrice in the D-fenders' 109-101 loss to Anaheim in the D-League, a first in NBA history. Farmar was assigned to the L.A. D-fenders of the NBA Developmental League on March 31, and after a stellar performance in the afternoon in a losing effort, the Lakers quickly reactivated him to the line-up. Kobe Bryant, whose scoring spree highlighted the month of March, dished out a season-high 13 assists, but only scoring 19. KB24 scored at least 50 points in five of their last seven prior to the Kings game. Maurice Evans led Kobe and four others in double-figures with 21.
NBA regular season awards. Who's your picks?
With the end of the regular season approaches, there are some names that surfaced to win the several NBA regular season awards. Here are my picks for the different awards.MVP - My MVP pick is LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers. James has been dominating the once again and for the second straight year, he will be the NBA's best player. Statistically, James is a beast. He is averaging 29.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 8.6 assists, 1.68 steals, and 1.03 blocks per game. He leads the NBA in scoring for the 2009-2010 season though Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant is a very close second. Apart from his statistics, James have led the Cavaliers into the best record in the NBA for the 2009-2010 season. Though there are still a few games left, the Cavaliers are a few games over the defending champions Los Angeles Lakers for the best record for the season. James is simply the heart and soul of the Cleveland Cavaliers and being the heart and soul of the best team for the season, he deserves a citation as the best player.ROY - It's a close call but I'd give it to Tyreke Evans. Though playing for the lowly Sacramento Kings, Evans has been consistent all season long. I used to pick Brandon...
More NBA trades before the trade deadline
Just a few hours after Washington dealt Caron Bulter to Dallas and Antawn Jamison to Cleveland which further boosted such teams, other teams such as the Houston Rockets and Charlotte Bobcats have also improved their rosters while the New York Knicks have made a major move which makes them a serious player for the 2010 free agency. The biggest latest story so far was Tracy McGrady going to the New York Knicks. McGrady, who was sidelined for months with an injury, was sent to the New York Knicks which involved the Sacramento Kings in the process. For this season, the Rockets is obviously the winner as they got another scoring threat in Kevin Martin and at the same time have finally unloaded McGrady's heavy contract. The full deal involved McGrady (Houston) and Sergio Rodriguez (Sacramento) to New York, Martin (Sacramento), Larry Hughes, Jared Jeffries, and Jordan Hill (all from New York) to Houston along with a 2012 first round pick and the Rockets can also swap first round picks with New York in 2011, and Sacramento acquiring Carl Landry and Joey Dorsey from Houston. Long term wise, the Knicks could be the biggest winner in this deal provided that they get a quality pick in the...
TNT All Decade Votation: Best Buzzer Beaters
Which do you think is the best buzzer beater for the past decade? TNT is showcasing 6 of the best and most memorable and dramatic buzzer beaters from year 2000 to 2009. Here's the list:1.) Reggie Miller of the Indiana Pacers hitting a three and sending the game to overtime against the New Jersey Nets in 2002. Miller followed it up with a game tying slam dunk in the overtime. The Pacers lost the game though.2.) Robert Horry picking up the lose ball against the Sacramento Kings and hit a game winning three back in 2002.3.) Derek Fisher made a game winning shot against the San Antonio Spurs with just 0.4 seconds left in the clock and saved the powerhouse Lakers to avoid a 1-3 card against the Spurs in the 2004 Western Conference Finals.4.) Chauncey Billups hit a game tying 40-foot three point shot against the New Jersey Nets back in 2004 to send the game to overtime.5.) Kobe Bryant's remarkable performance against the Phoenix Suns. First, Bryant sent the game to overtime with an unbalanced shot against 2 Suns defenders and later in the overtime, Bryant hit the game winning fade away to give the Lakers a 3-1 series lead over the Suns back in 2006. The Suns however...
Allen Iverson's ranting. Justifiable or not?
Since he suited for the Detroit Pistons after being traded by the Denver Nuggets for Chauncey Billups, Allen Iverson was demoted to a 6th man from a starter. Before playing for the Pistons, Iversons started in 827 out of 832 games for the Philadelphia 76ers and Denver Nuggets. Iverson said that he's been a starter all his life and coming off the bench is a little hard for him. Iverson said that Detroit's head coach Michael Curry promised to give him a starting role and it never materialized. Iverson played behind Pistons veteran Richard Hamilton and rising star Rodney Stuckey. Because of his ailing back, the Pistons decided not to re-sign Iverson. A star as he is, he got in trouble during the 2009 offseason as no team showed interest in signing him. The reason? Iverson's asking price is quite high. It's clear that he can still play and contribute well but he's no longer "The Answer" that he used to be. After a series of negotiations, the lowly and rebuilding Memphis Grizzlies signed Iverson for $3 million for one season. Knowing what he's done in Philadelphia and the reputation of the Nuggets and Pistons that he played for, Iverson is in an unfamiliar territory, playing for a...
