Tampa Bay Rays
For all the talk of ohh its the same old Rays is out the window cause while they almost certainly will not make the playoffs they have a foundation that can most certainly in the future make them wildcard contenders. the key i think is the new ownership. its good to see because its would be nice to have them not be the annual doormat. also the new stadium they are planning is yuk a retractable curtain i can do without they should just suck it up and add the additional cost for a retractable roof.
Phillies Win, Phillies Win, Wow!
I can't tell you how satisfying it is to finally end all the years of futility related to Philadelphia's sports teams.Anyone who have followed the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers or Sixers know that we've come so close but were never able to win the "Big One"Well last night, the Phillies ended over 20 years of heartbreak by winning the 2008 Major League Baseball World Series. As someone who lived and died with the Phillies over 162 regular games and 15 playoff games, I must admit that I wasn't fully confident that they would win it all even when they went up 3-1 against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Now that the Phillies have won it all, it seems as if a huge burdon has been lifted. Now critics can focus on the best team in baseball instead of the rowdy behavior exibited by Philadelphia fans in the past.Who can ever forget the booing Santa Claus or throwing snowballs during a snow storm? Now Philadelphia will be viewed in a different light. Viewed as the city of the Championship Philadelphia Phillies.Doesn't that have a nice ring to it?Lloyd
What did you think about the game tonight?
Tonight (10/10/08) was game 1 of Boston Red Sox vs the Tampa Bay Rays. I was impressed with the game, as it was very strategic and intense. What did you think of the game tonight? What did you think of game 1? Discuss.
Where are the Tampa Bay Ray fans?
I was watching sports center and Mike and Mike in the morning and they both mentioned that not enough fans are going to the Tampa Bay Rays games. And I started thinking, Why don't many people got to their games? Yeah they have sucked since the day they've came out but now they are giving the Red Sox and Yankees a run for their money. So it inspired me to write a blog entry: http://sportsrus.today.com/Why do you think people don't go to their games?
Negadelphia
From the collapse of the 1964 Phillies, to the Eagles of 1980, to the 76ers of the A.I. years, and even last year with the Eagles being only yards short of getting to the Super Bowl, Philadelphia sports teams have a way of coming up just short of the goal. Around here it has a name, Negadelphia. That feeling inside that says no matter how good we are doing, it is only going to end in heartache. Then something happened. The Phladelpha Phillies.4 years and 3 years ago they lost out on a chance to get to the play-offs on the last day of the season. 2 years ago, the Rockies swept them from the wild card spot in the first round. Same old thing. Then last year. As infectious as the belief in the team was, we knew that somewhere the Phillies would break our hearts again. But they didn't. The beat the Tampa Bay Rays and won the World Series. Something that only happened once before. Instead of looking at a game we were leading and wondering how we were going to lose, we looked at a team that was behind in the 9th inning and wondering how they would win.Anywhere among the 8 regulars, a rally could start. Top of the order with Rollins and Victorino, The meat of the order with...
Carrying "Authority" to Extremes?
Do you think this is carrying “I do it because I have the power to do it” a bit too far?A 12-year-old boy from Palmetto, Fla., was suspended from school for having a “Mohawk” haircut. The school principal felt that his ‘do would be too distracting to fellow students, so the youngster was placed alone in a classroom for the remainder of the school day, and he hasn’t returned to school since Monday. He was told that he’d have to shave off the remainder of his hair or remain on suspension until it grows back.At least in one Pinellas County school, administrators encouraged students to show their support for the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team by painting their hair blue and cutting it into a Mohawk. So what’s the big deal?Check the story here:http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/20081009/ARTICLE/810090392/2297/BUSINESS?Title=School_rejects_spirited_hairstyleI fully understand that if the ‘do were something that would distract his fellow students throughout the day or throughout the class it could be said that the ‘do is overly distracting. But the kid looks neat and clean, and the “Mohawk” doesn’t stand out like an erection. It’s not worth more than a glance...
Tampa bay is a perfect place
The weather in Tampa bay has been in the low 60's. Today was 64. The highs for the weekend is not known, but it has not been too hot in any part of South Florida for the last 4 weeks or so. Tampa is an ideal climate for going out to parks or just taking a brisk walk or strolling down the beach. Bring your unbrellas for the time of your life-in Tampa Bay this summer.
Living In Tampa Bay
Tampa Bay, Florida has gotten a lot of attention for its tourist attractions and climate. The weather is great for trips to the beach, and sun bathing. The universities bring in many new students each year. Also, businesses are expanding and new jobs are being created more than ever before. If you're thinking about moving or taking a vacation, Tampa Bay is an ideal location!
3 month old killed in Tampa Bay
There was the most disturbing story in the news today. There was a domestic disturbance in the middle of the night last night in Tampa, FL between a 22 year old man and his ex-girlfriend. The girl had a 3 month old baby. The couple was in an argument when the man picked up the baby and threw him down on the ground. He then got in his vehicle to flee the scene and took the infant with him. He was driving along Interstate 275 when he threw the baby out of the window. The baby did not survive. I am so shocked by this story. Why did a small, helpless child have to get involved in this couple's argument? He lost his life because some dumb person could not control his anger. I do not think that there is a punishment that could even fir this crime.
Tampa Bay sued by family for 22.7 million dollars
A family heirloom handed down through the generations that was written in the early years of the civil war a family is trying to collect on.What was originally a 299.58 cent loan, with a note given to the shop keeper in 1861--the family kept this note all this time, They have now sued the city for the note and 8 percent interest....the city of course is fighting this. They say too much time has passed, and of course the city is broke.http://www.tampabay.com/news/localgovernment/article419897.eceOk, what are your thoughts on this? Should the city be forced to pay the promisary not back? Or will they have grounds to stand on that too much time has passed. Keep in mind that the Seminole Tribe was paid for land illegally taken from them in the 1820sShould the city pay or not? Mooch
