How about that Penguins game tonight (12/19/06)?!
Yes, I was at the Penguins game tonight at the Mellon Arena... and we lost... How? is my only question. A team, St. Louis Blues, who was on an ELEVEN game losing streak, with a 7-19-6 record beat the Penguins. With my nose bleed seats I sat amazed at how bad we did tonight.Fleury was not in the game mentally at all, letting in 3 goals in the first and half of the second period. Thank you, Thibault for being awesome though. Only letting in one goal. Also, thank you Geno for getting our one and only goal."We didn’t have it tonight. There’s no excuse. We can’t come out like this." That's right, Crosby, you can't. Do better next time... this is like letting the Flyers beat us!WHY?!
Update: Rush Limbaugh Dropped From Rams Bid!
"Sources tell ESPN that Dave Checketts, chairman of the NHL's St. Louis Blues and the point man in the Limbaugh group attempting to buy the Rams, is planning to remove the controversial radio host as a minority member in the group in order to get approval from other NFL owners."Read more here: http://www.cnbc.com/id/33315866I guess money doesn't talk as loudly as we thought! Sorry to offend anyone who doesn't think this belongs in the politics interest or that it's an important story.Annie
Rush Limbaugh - NFL Owner?
You've probably heard that right-wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh has put in a bid to purchase the St Louis Rams NFL team. At this point he and St. Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts, who is in on the bid with Limbaugh, "aren't thought to be the frontrunners". I wouldn't be surprised if he got it just the same because we all know that "money talks" and Rush likes to boast of his power. However, there are some football players who have vowed not to play for any team Limbaugh is associated with.http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/2009/10/09/2009-10-09_black_nfl_players_crush_prospect_of_playing_for_a_rush_limbaughowned_st_louis_ra.htmlI have a feeling the Rams may also lose a fair number of fans and possibly ticket and merchandise sales. What do you think? If you're a Rams fan will you continue to root for them if Rush Limbaugh becomes the owner? Will it cause you to root AGAINST them? If you were a player, how would you feel about playing for someone many believe is a racist?Annie

rush limbaugh wants to buy the st. louis rams!
Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh seems to love the Rams even in the condition the team finds itself right now. It appears that Rush has teamed with the St. Louis Blues owner Checketts and has placed a bid for the team.Limbaugh declined to name any other partners that might be involved and said that he and Checketts would run the team."Dave Checketts and I have put in our bid for the Rams and we are continuing the process." Limbaugh commented. The team is estimated to be worth $929 million. From a statement made by Chip Rosenbloom who owns 60% of the team along with his sister, makes it sound as if he is taking the bid seriously. "Our strategic review of our ownership of the Rams continues. We will make an announcement upon completion of the process."It's not known whether or not Limbaugh and Checketts are bidding for 100% ownership or just 60% with billionaire Kroenke keeping his 40% share of ownership.Ever since the Rams have been up for sale the fans have been concerned that the team might move out of St. Louis. Should Limbaugh and Checketts win the bid for ownership, it's guaranteed that the Rams will stay in St. Louis since both Checketts...

Canucks try to close out series in Dallas
Vancouver at Dallas 8:00 pm EDT Western Conference quarterfinal Vancouver leads, 3-2DALLAS (Ticker) -- The Vancouver Canucks haven't been very successful when it comes to closing out playoff series. The Canucks, who lead the Dallas Stars three-games-to-two in their Western Conference quarterfinal matchup, have lost their last five games when having the opportunity to eliminate an opponent.ADVERTISEMENT Vancouver will attempt to end that skid when it travels to Dallas on Saturday for Game Six of the best-of-seven series. The Canucks are seeking their first series victory since besting the St. Louis Blues in the 2003 conference quarterfinals.Goaltending and penalty killing continue to be the story of this series. Since Game One - a 5-4 Vancouver win in four overtimes - neither team has tallied more than two goals in a game. Before allowing an overtime goal to Brenden Morrow in Thursday's 1-0 loss, Vancouver's Roberto Luongo had yielded just four tallies over 17 periods in the series. His counterpart Marty Turco has recorded two shutouts in the series.Coincidentally, the goaltenders have an identical 1.39 goals against average and are No. 1 and No. 2 in...
Slumping Thrashers trade for Tkachuk
The Atlanta Thrashers are no longer worrying about the future. They don't want to wait 'til next year anymore. It's time to make the playoffs. With their second deal in two days, the slumping Thrashers acquired rugged forward Keith Tkachuk from the St. Louis Blues on Sunday, giving up right wing Glen Metropolit, a first-round pick in 2007 and two other draft choices. The Thrashers paid a steep price for Tkachuk, hoping he can stop the free fall that sent them tumbling from first place to a state of desperation as they try to hang on for a spot in the playoffs. Atlanta is one of only two franchises (Columbus is the other) that has never made the postseason. "Over the years, we've always been pretty conservative when it comes to trading away picks or prospects. We've always protected the future," Thrashers general manager Don Waddell said. "Well, the future for us is now."

Would St. Louis Rams Really Take Sam Bradford With #1 Pick?
The St. Louis Rams taking Sam Bradford with the #1 pick is a story that's circulating, but I don't buy it. The Rams defense was ranked 32nd last year, that's last. Unfortunately, the offense wasn't much better, with a ranking of 31st. If the Rams pass on defensive tackle and consensus best player in the draft, Ndamukong Suh, I think Mel Kiper Jr. will propel himself out of the building. Bradford is coming off two shoulder injuries, and there will be free agent quarterbacks available, there won't be a player like Suh available in free agency or the draft.
