Ichiro
Who has theories on why Mike Hargove resigned as head coach suddently? Does anyone think Ichiro might have been throwing his weight around prior to signing his $100 million deal?
Ken Griffey Jr.
I have written to the Seattle Times and the Mariners and I have yet to get an answer to my question,WHY IS KENNY GETTING A HEROES WELCOME AFTER HE CALLED ALL SEATTLE FANS PSYCHO'S BEFORE HE LEFT SEATTLE?He never apologized,I'm not imagining this,my daughter remembers him saying that too.Yet Alex is still booed everytime his team plays at Safeco, the owners wouldn't even talk to him so he took Texas' offer, their owner wanted him,the Mariners obviously didn't.I'm really upset about this, what is your take on this?
Edgar Martinez goes into the Mariner Hall of Fame
Did you see the News, and Honors Seattle Mariners displayed tonight when Edgar was inducted into the Mariner Hall of Fame? I feel what an Honor that was, and since I loved watching him play, and miss his charisma this was very well deserved. But what was with the Sunglasses? Was this to cover his eyes, so we could not see how emotional he got, or was it to block the Sun?Well, I am very proud of Edgar Martinez, and his accomplishments. If I have my way, the next move for him truly needs to be the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
Predictions for the 2007 Mariners?
Do you guys see another last place finish for the 2007 Mariners? I certainly do. This team in such a mess and it has been in a mess ever since Bavasi took over. I miss the glory days of 1995 with Griffey, Randy Johnson, Jay Buhner and Edgar Martinez.
Walmart's Project Impact: A Move to Crush Competition
Walmart loves to shock and awe. City-size stores, absurdly low prices ($8 jeans!) and everything from milk to Matchbox toys on its shelves. And with the recession forcing legions of stores into bankruptcy, the world's largest retailer now apparently wants to take out the remaining survivors. Thus, the company is in the beginning stages of a massive store and strategy remodeling effort, which it has dubbed Project Impact. One goal of Project Impact is cleaner, less cluttered stores that will improve the shopping experience. Another is friendlier customer service. A third: home in on categories where the competition can be killed. "They've got Kmart ready to take a standing eight-count next year," says retail consultant Burt Flickinger III, managing director for Strategic Resources Group and a veteran Walmart watcher. "Same with Rite Aid. They've knocked out four of the top five toy retailers, and are now going after the last one standing, Toys "R" Us. Project Impact will be the catalyst to wipe out a second round of national and regional retailers." (See 10 things to buy during the recession.)Though that's bad news for many smaller businesses that can't compete, Walmart...
I finally got my shirt
Ever since I saw Josh Hamilton hit all those home runs in Major League Baseball's AllStar HomeRun Derby last year, I have wanted a shirt with his name and number on it. One of the things that I always did with my dad when he was alive was go to Texas Rangers Games, and discuss the games that we didn't get to see. Dad would often call me and say. Did you see that hit, or that run, or that catch. Many times it wasn't on in our area, and he would call and give me the play by play so I wouldn't have to wait for the newspaper the next day, and hope it would be in there.Well, last week...My sweet husband surprised me with tickets to the Rangers home game against the Seattle Mariners. Along with the tickets, was my coveted t-shirt. When we got to the game, he surprised me even more with a trip to the clearance kiosk within the ballpark, where he bought me 3 more shirts! A 2009 All-Star shirt with all of those Rangers who were nominated for the All-Star team, as well as shirts with names and jersey numbers of two more of my favorite Texas Rangers! Our best catcher: Gerald "Salty" Saltallachia and one of the pitchers: Brandon McCarthy. I love to watch Brandon pitch because his style...

What is your favorite baseball team?
Mine is the San Diego Padres. I started off as a Seattle Mariners fan as a kid cuz I was a fan of Ken Griffey Jr, but I started following the Padres because I've lived in San Diego for all of my life, and after Griffey and A-Rod parted from Seattle, I stopped following the M's on a regular basis.
Mariners agree to two-year deal with Bloomquist
Willie Bloomquist and the Seattle Mariners have agreed to a two-year contract worth $1,875,000, tearing up the final season of his previous deal. Bloomquist had been scheduled to earn $875,000 next year. The new contract calls for a $100,000 signing bonus, $825,000 next season and $950,000 in 2008, the final year before he is eligible for free agency. He can also earn an additional $25,000 for 275, 325, 375 and 425 plate appearances next year, and $50,000 for 525 and 575. In 2008, he would earn $75,000 for 450, 500 and 550 plate appearances. A Seattle-area native who turned 29 Monday, Bloomquist was the Mariners' third-round draft choice in 1999 out of Arizona State. He batted .247 in a career-high 102 games with one home run, 15 RBIs and 16 stolen bases in 19 attempts. His streak of 19 consecutive stolen base attempts ended in May. Bloomquist made starts at five positions last season: center field, second base, shortstop, third base and right field. He was one of several center fielders who replaced Jeremy Reed after Reed broke his thumb in July. Ichiro Suzuki settled there during the season's final month
