myLot Discussions| National League Wildcard race: San Francisco Giants contenders? | | Ok, I have to admit; I am a HUGE Giants fan. Right now, the NL West seems all but lost (damn Dodger's), but lately I have been pleasantly suprised to see that the team that has supposedly taken 3 years to build actually accomplishing something in the NL wildcard. Although we were just swept by the Angels (hate em, 2002....i guess thats another story). I really think that it is too early to think about this, but after 4 years of losing seasons, its nice to see my team respond proactively. We have two of the best pitchers in the majors right now in Cain and Lincecum, and who I think will be the best hitter in the league over the next decade, Pablo Sandoval. Couple that with a few vets that can hit, good defense, decent managing, and team togetherness, and I think that they may do it!I really think that the Dodgers will fall apart when Manny comes back. They've played exceptionally well without him, and I think that his return will break up the unbelievable streak they've been on. Your thoughts?
| | | Did They REALLY Win 10-0? | | Wahoo! I am a San Francisco Giants baseball fan. After the past few years of struggle, they may have their sh1t together and get themselves into the post season. But it's still early and baseball fans are used to disappointment, heh heh. Last night, behind the awesome pitching of Tim Lincecum, WE beat the Cardinals ten to nothing. I pinched myself. "Am I dreaming?" I asked. Yet this morning, the mlb tells me yes, it was all true. So -- do you like baseball? What sports do you follow? Tell me all about your fanliness!well without him, and I think that his return will break up the unbelievable streak they've been on. Your thoughts? | |
| | Baseball Team Less Crappy Last Night! | | Okay, my team the San Francisco Giants was less crappy last night. They won 3-0. The night before that was heartbreaking. They worked so hard to take the lead, then the closing pitcher comes in. Would you believe he balked twice, and he balked in a run. The balked in run tied the game up.Then in the last of the 12th inning, some idiot Met hits a homer and they win.I think the next time our closer pitches at home and blows a save, he will be assassinated. I know I predicted that previously and it didn't happen, but I just know it*could*.So how's your baseball season coming along? | |
| | How good will Tim Lincecum be? | | He's a top prospect for the Giants who will finally be making his ML debut... he has an ERA of about 0.29 in AAA so far this year. How good do you think he'll be? | |
| | Tim Lincecum | | This kid is the real thing. Saw him pitch in Fresno, the kid is well poised, doesn't get rattled, and goes out and does what he needs to do -as you can see by the results he has gotten. Hopefully, he will get his start on Sunday so that people can get a good look at him on ESPN. | |
| | Hapless Baseball Team Wins Seven in a Row! | | As a few of you know, I am a fan of the San Francisco Giants. Baseball is the only sport I follow. Of course I became a fan in a winning season when they won the league's pennant. When your sports team then goes on an awful losing streak, it starts to mess with your mind. I never knew before how manic-depressive being a sports fan could be!Highs and lows, it's like being in love! Then they trade players every year and you suddently lose somebody like first baseman J.T. Snow. They get old, or they get concussions like Mike Matheny, or they get in a steroids scandal. It's always something for a sports fan!So imagine my joy that my beloved team finally won seven in a row and have beaten the Dirty LA Dodgers (who swept my Giants in their own park, sigh) twice. How would you adjust my mental sports attitude so that I can accept whatever happens in tonight's game? Have you ever let something really basically dumb like this affect your mood? | |
| | Do you want to see Barry Bonds break Hank Aaron's HR record? | | Being a Giants fan, I am torn. I love the Giants, but honestly think we could do without this whole cloud surrounding Barry Bonds. But Giants fans... and baseball fans in general, do you want to see Bonds hit HR# 756? Personally, I don't, and I know it going t be hard. Look at it like this, if Bonds does break the record, then it means that he's producing and giving the Giants production to give them wins... but I don't like the idea of Bonds, a guy who used to be one of my favorite players, breaking such a hallowed record. Do you want this to happen? | |
| | did you ever say something foolish like "I love you" at the wrong moment. | | I mean when you might have thought you were being romantic or something. Or maybe you tried to save a relationship that was too far gone, you said it at the wrong moment of course...
You thought you were so sincere and then she just looked at you, maybe she handed you back all those silly love letters, maybe she smiled but she was too kind to laugh... she just handed the words right back to you, then she just drove away. Not even a "see you later"...
Then for one very magnifcent second, you tried to chase the car down the block, but she is too fast. It was just a thought, to run after that car past your neighbor's house, I struggled for a few steps and stopped.
Maybe you just knew the evening wind was gonna blow that tear right off your cheek if you turned your head back towards the porch, so you just stuck your face on the inside of your elbow, holding the dozen or so letters with your other hand.
I am so glad i threw the letters away soon after she gave them back to me. They were all opened, I guess she had read them.
I can never imagine EVER wanting to re-visit those words... even though it was so long ago... it was a deep part of me, best that i just left them in the...
| | Do you think that the Giants organization should let Barry Bonds go? | | I am sure you all heard the news and the hoopla surrounding Barry Bonds and his last failed test on amphetimines. I am TIRED OF IT. I wished that Barry bonds would just announce his retirement. Baseball fans, what do you think that this organization should do with Barry Bonds? Wait until 2007 baseball season is over or let him go? | |
