myLot Discussions| Philadelphia 76ers ends 12 game losing skid. Big game for Allen Iverson | | It's just great to know that Allen Iverson have finally won a game back in 76ers uniform. Iverson scored 20 points in 7/10 shooting from the field and dished out 4 assists to help the Philadelphia 76ers end a 12 game losing skid with a convincing 117-101 win over the Golden State Warriors. Just a few games back after being waived by the Memphis Grizzlies, Iverson could still be out of his top shape and might be back to his old usual form (or at least close to it). As a basketball fan growing up watching a lot of Allen Iverson during his glory days with the 76ers, I just can't help but root for AI and the 76ers once again despite the poor early showing. The 76ers started 5-6 before the 12 straight defeats which sent them down 5-8 before the win. It might be tough to climb back up the standings but knowing who AI (Iverson) is a few seasons back, I'm just hopeful that the 76ers can still turn the season around. Philadelphia's another AI (Andre Iguodala) has been showing a lot of promise as well as Thaddeus Young who by the way top billed the 76ers with 26 points and 14 rebounds in the win. Iverson could provide the 76ers some identity again while...
| | Allen Iverson is officially back with the Philadelphia 76ers | | After departing with the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2006-07 season, Allen Iverson is back with his former team. The 34-year-old former All-Star and NBA MVP re-signed with the 76ers after a troubling offseason and stint with the Memphis Grizzlies. Iverson made his official Philadelphia 76ers return during the 76ers game against his former team the Denver Nuggets. Iverson is already far from being the Iverson of old with the 76ers. He just finished with 11 points in 4/11 FG shooting, grabbed 5 rebounds, and dished out 6 assists in an 83-93 losing effort. The 76ers had a good start and managed to keep the Nuggets at bay before the powerhouse Western Conference squad outscored Philadelphia 30-18 in the fourth quarter. It could be some rust that Iverson should shrug off in the next few games that limited AI to at least perform at what many people expect him to be. During the 2006-07 season, Iverson played 15 games with the 76ers before he was shipped to Denver for Andre Miller and he averaged 31.2 points and 7.3 assists per game for the 76ers in that 15 game stint. With the limited manpower the 76ers have, Iverson could take over and probably take the lead in scoring once again. At... | |
| | 2007-04-06 Toronto Raptors at Philadelphia 76ers | | The Raptors need nothing more than to finish in 3rd place in the conference. They currently have a 1 game lead on the Miami Heat, with Miami having the tie-breaker.Finishing 3rd means facing the Wizards in the first round who are missing their top 2 players. I was really hoping Cleveland could beat Miami last night but they lost in overtime. Now each team has 7 games left and the Raptors have to play at least as well as the Heat. Miami has 7 easy opponents, the toughest being the shorthanded Wizards. The Raptors play the Pistons twice more and the Bulls. This means the Raptors really need to win tonight, and if they don't I think they're going to have to settle for 4th place. It should be a fairly easy game however as they are 2-0 against the 76ers when they had Iverson, they should be able to take care of them easily. I predict a 15 point victory for the Raptors. What are your thoughts? | |
| | | | Washington wins the first pick in the NBA 2010 Draft | | This could be something big for the Washington Wizards and also in the upcoming years. Winning the first pick in the NBA 2010 Draft gives them the chance to take John Wall or Evan Turner, two of the highly acclaimed hopefuls in the draft. The Wizards, projected to end up 5th overall, could have a very big 2010-2011 season since marquee star Gilbert Arenas is also set to return. After trading Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison away in the middle of the 2009-2010 season, the Wizards could now head to rebuilding with their number 1 pick and Arenas (hopefully). The Philadelphia 76ers, projected to be 6th overall, got the 2nd overall pick while cellar dweller, the New Jersey Nets, got the third overall pick. The Nets were expected to land at the number 1 spot.Rounding up the draft picks are Minnesota (4th), Sacramento (5th), Golden State (6th), Detroit (7th), Los Angeles Clippers (8th), Utah (9th - from New York via Phoenix), Indiana (10th), New Orleans (11th), Memphis (12th), Toronto (13th), and Houston (14th).The Nets, finishing the season with a 12-70 record, had a 25% chance of winning the lottery but fell to third overall. The last time a team who finished with the worst... | |
| | It's going to be a very busy offseason for 2010 | | LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire, Carlos Boozer, and Joe Johnson, those are just few of the names that might be appearing in the 2010 NBA free agency. Their current teams might do their very best to keep them and some hopeful teams for sure will be after them. Some of the teams that are on the heels of these stars are the New York Knicks, New Jersey Nets, and the Los Angeles Clippers. The Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, and Utah Jazz for sure are going to either re-sign their current stars or either go for another one to compensate the loss. A lot of rumors are going on for a possible James-Wade, James-Bosh, or Wade-Bosh team-ups which sound scary for the remaining 29 teams. Because of such names in the market, other teams are rumored to be making some serious adjustments in their rosters so to also get the most out of the deals. Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, has been quoted saying that they are interested in going after LeBron, even at the expense of giving up a lot of their firepower. Does this mean Cuban would let Dirk Nowitzki go and the Dallas will see the end of the Nowitzki era? Or is this a possible LeBron James-Dirk... | |
| | Do you think Allen Iverson is the best crossover in NBA history? | | Though AI3 is almost 35 years old, he can be the top player in NBA till now.Do you remember he cross over Michael Jordan in his rookie season? On the speed, he does not lose to CP3 and Aaron Brooks.
On the footwork, he does not lose to Steve Nash and Tony Parker.
On the success rate, he does not lost to Gilbert Arenas and Devin Harris.I means now he still is the best crossover in NBA, even in NBA history. What's your opinion? Anyway, welcome back to the philadelphia 76ers!
| | Is Allen Iverson still worth the risk? | | Basketball fans know how Allen Iverson's stint with the Detroit Pistons and the Memphis Grizzlies went. Despite his talent, teams never hesitate to say "no" to Iverson because of his attitude issues. Iverson is groomed to follow the footsteps of Latrell Sprewell who thinks too much about himself. Iverson is good, no doubt about it, but he's no longer "The Answer" of old. He's no longer capable of leading teams to the finals but he could help teams reach that far as a support or probably as the second or third option. Iverson's stint with the Denver Nuggets was not that bad but considering the talent that the Nuggets had, they should have made it past the first round with AI.Anyway, after a very brief stint with the Grizzlies, Iverson is out and is heading out the retirement door, too premature considering the steam that he still have left. So far, Iverson's former team, the Philadelphia 76ers, have expressed interest in getting him back. The 76ers are struggling so far and is still in search of an identity. Another AI, Andre Igoudala, is leading the 76ers lately but badly needs more support and better yet mature experience to guide them. Elton Brand has been a disappointment... | |
