myLot Discussions| New York Islanders beat New Jersey Devils, kick Toronto out of the playoffs | | Well, after one of the most intense hockey games on Saturday night pitting Toronto vs. Montreal against each other to get the last playoff spot, it all proved to be pointless. Today, the New York Islanders stole the last spot right out of the hands of Toronto, the spot that they had for just a moment, then saw it vanish. It was another intense game, set at the American Airlines Arena. The first 3/4 of the game were relatively slow, having the Isles go up 2-0, but it was the final minutes that got the entire home crowd on their feet cheering their New Jersey team on. With under 5 minutes to go, New Jersey scored on the rookie third-string New York goaltender to cut the lead to one, and a failed attempt to clear the puck out of the zone in the final 17 seconds, New York turned it over, allowing a last-second goal to be scored to send the game to overtime.Overtime saw a few good chances, but in the end it all boiled down to the shootout. New York went up 2-1 in the shootout, leaving the last New Jersey player to try to score on the rookie to keep the game going, but a poke-check saved the Islanders from getting... | |
| | 2007-03-20 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. New Jersey Devils | | Almost every game for the Leafs is must win now. The Leafs look for revenge from last time, and I hope they put that pressure on Brodeur.I predict that the Leafs will heavily outplay the Devils and come away with either a loss or a disappointingly close win. What do you think? | |
| | Elias' cross check on Ott | | Did you see the cheap shot Elias got away with on Ott? Now I must confess that I am no way a Stars' fan nor a Devils fan. but it was ridiculous that Elias got Just 2 minutes. That was a major! I think that the game was played in Jersey Plus it was Elias came into play and it shouldn't have!Shouldn't a cross check that cheap be a major regardless where it happened and who did it? | |
| | | NHL Playoffs are here! | | The Playoffs started today and it looks to be a good one. There is going to be some close ones and possibly a couple 7 games series just to start it. I do have to say the Devils looked really good. Devils goalie, who is probably the best goalie in the history of the NHL, wasn't even tested today. I believed he had only 19 shots on him tonight. At that start the Devils look to be in good shape in these playoffs. They have guys like Parise and Ellis who can score and a net-minder in Brodeur, it will be hard to beat them. I know there are some great teams out there, but I feel like the Devils are going to pull it off. They know what it is like to go all the way. Brodeur has led them three times. They know how to play Defense and that is what wins championships they all say. It looks like its going to be a great NHL playoffs this season. I think it is really anyones game. I mean even the 8th seeds can beat the 1st seeds in the first round. I can see some big upsets and the series coming down to goaltending. The time that wins has a goalie that just stands on his head. I want to see what teams others think that are going to win it all. Let me know. I am excited for these games and the... | |
| | Your favorite team is? | | What is your favorite sports team? How did you come to the conclusion that this was your number one pick? Is it a home town team? Is it because of the players on the team? Last years performance? How long have you been following your team? And if you are a out of town fan have you gotten to see a live game? Or would you travel to see a game? My favorite team is the NJ Devils. I have liked them since I was a kid and I think I just stuck with it because it was a rival team to all my family. | |

| | | | My best ever team! | | The NEW JERSEY DEVILS are my best favorite team of my life. They are the best team in hockey. We have goaltender Martin Brodeur, who has lots of shutouts. He looks to break Patrick Roy's record for all-time wins. Now we are going for a fourth Stanley Cup whenever the time comes. We have Brian Gionta, Patrick Elias, Jay Pandolfo, Zach Parise, John Madden, Sergei Brylin, Jamie Langenbrunner, Colin White, and Johnny Oduya for best players right now. We have two retired veterans, #3 Ken Daneyko and #4 Scott Stevens. They were all famous! I enjoyed seeing my team, especially whenever it comes to winning. Whey they score, I go wild. They so far have three Stanley Cup championships, 1995, 2000, and 2003. Now they have their brand new place in Neward, called the Prudential Center, their first ever season this year. They have moved from the Continental Airlines Arena in the Meadowlands in East Rutherford. I know that they are awesome this year, especially after making up for their early losses by coming up with great defense infront of Marty Brodeur. I hope that the Devils will come up with playoff successes. | |
