Home, Work, Community. Michelle speaks at Howard university today
Michelle Obama spoke today at Howard University where she encouraged women to take action to shape their lives while trying to balance family, education, and work."The question that I hate most that we ask of young people is What are you going to be when you grow up? and the truth is, I still don't know and I am 45 years old. All I know is that it's important for you to be true to yourselves, not to worry too much about what other people are going to think or make of your choices, because everyone will question what you do and tell you you should've done it that way....So you know that in your struggle to figure these things out as women, as professionals, that you have to do what's right for you at any given time, and that's going to change from week to week, from month to month and year to year." Did anyone watch the Democratic debates last night at Howard University?
I saw the debates on PBS and they were kind of interesting. Most of the candidates were pandering to the mostly black audience (which is what politicians do) but I did hear some things that I liked.Gravel was funny. I like his stance on the Drug War, and well most of what he said. But having him stand up and attack everyone in his own party will not help him get elected. I doubt the American public will go for someone who can't play well with others.Hilary by far got the loudest and most appluase which is surprising considering that Obama is black and proclaimed himself a child of the Civil Rights movement. Considering the audience I expected him to do far better. He needs a few more years to perfect his shtick me thinks.Dennis Kusinch I liked as well. He is very smart and has a lot of great ideas. He is however frail and doesn't seem very "Presidential."Biden on the other seems both smart and Presidential, but like the rest they are trailing so far behind Clinton, Obama and Edward that they will need Richard Dean moment from their competion to gain any ground. On the subject of Edwards, he is smooth as ever and I mean that in a good way. I still like the guy,...
