| | Saving at the Grocery store-- the only high point of the trip | | Grocery shopping Saving with club cards and coupon(s) I am one that hates to grocery shop with a royal passion, simply because prices are so high. Ok dealing with people is not my cup of tea, walking on my foot there are many downsides to shopping in my bookWell for the next 2 weeks my husband told me we are on a limited budget, ok this is normal 250.00 for 2 weeks I went to Weis, and bought mostly non perishables, bread, and a lot of what was on sale and used my 'club card', I saved the milk and eggs to buy from BJs wholesale club as they are far more cheaper, and I am not happy with the meat prices at Weis, so I will look at Walmart, BJs and other places for meat and vegetables, and of course I need cheese.But with the club card and coupons alone I saved over 22.00, that includes a 5.00 coupon from Weis in my 2008 Entertainment book for 50.00 of groceries. So now I only need to use 27.00 in coupons to get my money out of that book.Coupons in the Sunday paper are not always productive for us as they often entail buying multiple items to get the savings, or on name brand things, that you can usually buy cheaper by buying the store brand.Which I might add Store... | |
| | What were the highs and lows of your 2009? | | For me, the High Point came in November when my son married a lovely girl. The lowest points were the days when two of my kitties passed away. Weis had a sale on General Mill Cereals, and buy one get one free, and DJ Liquidators had cereal, Dora Cinnamon cereal, and Golden Sparkle Fruit loops for one dollar a box, and we got some weight watcher's cereal for my husband for 1.00 a box (that I can't eat as it is made with soy)...But overall it was a productive shopping trip even though I have to finish tomorrow or later tonight... though I came home utterly exhausted..... | |

| | A Round Robin | | One of my pet hates at this time of the year are those Christmas cards that arrive bearing a letter that is copied to all the other "friends" of the sender and that tell you all about the minutiae of their ever so exciting lives. However, in the spirit of the season I thought that I'd let you have Pike's year to date. The highs and lows.The year started badly with the roof of P1ke towers needing to be replaced after the horrendous Santa sleigh crash. I am still waiting for his insurance company to come through. They cite problems with communicating with him. Apparently he is only available on December 24th. Pull the other one it has bells on it. After that comes a high point. The unveiling of the new car park. Regular readers will remember that I had to let my faithful retainer, Old Creaky, go but the good news is that I have managed to re-employ him as the car park attendant. He gets to live in the the little hut that guards the entrance so at least he keeps the rain off. We are forecast to have snow so I have also let him have some old feed sacks from the stables to keep him warm. No-one can call me less than generous. There then followed two wonderful events. | | i'm bouncing!!!!! | | hi all, i've just to have a gloat in a good way. i was at a show today, my son came along as well but didn't ride and he had a ball with my mum and bro's girlfriend along with her dog.
i have gotten my best ever wins of fat ribbons, i've competed for a long time but have never brought home more than one fatter ribbon at a show. today i brought home, one champion, 2 reserves, high point a.s.h., and 2nd in my tournout. i even had competition on getting the ribbons. not as if i was the only one in the classes. i think my mare got a big head after winning the champion cause she was a fidjet after that. but settled when i did classes or at least best she would. so how have you all gone in sports? any big wins that really make it more worth while? and that keep you going. | |
| | Do you feel that the Monk writers learned how to write again this season? | | I do. When Monk first came out, the writing was hip, inventive, and interesting. Something I hardly ever say about T.V. and writing because I happen to be of the opinion that people who write T.V. are only writing T.V. because no one will buy their book. The past couple of seasons, however, I have noticed a definite downgrading in the quality of the writing for the show. Now that it's the last season, the writing has returned to it's original high point. I hope that the writers of the show win an Emmy this year. What do you think? | |
