| | Has Anyone Just Recently Moved To East Tennessee From Another State | | I have just recently moved to Tennessee fro Florida. We lived in Florida for over 40 years. It was quite a move for us. We have always visited Tennessee for our vacations, going mostly to Gatlinburg. We really love the Gatlinburg area, it is just beautiful, and so much to do. And it's really great no matter what season you go there. And my husband had always wanted to sale everything that we had in Florida and make the move to Tennessee. But, I was always to scared to make such a big move, our family and friends were all with us in Florida, I didn't want to leave all that behind. But, my husband kept saying to me, it's only a 11 hour drive from Tennessee back home to Florida, we can come back home anytime we want, and visit friends & relatives. But, from the times that we discussed this move, many years went by, my parents and my husbands parents passed away, friends thinned out.So, we finally made the move. And it is great here. Incrediby beautiful. Spring is just beginning here, the dogwoods are in full bloom. Can't wait to see the changes that come with the seasons. I do have to get use to the curvy mountain roads. Driving here is a lot different than what I have been use... | |

| Would you rather live in the mountains or flat lands? | | My husband and I lived in Florida over forty years, most of our lives. In 2007 we moved to East Tennessee. Near the Smoky mountains. My husband loves living here. The mountain views are beautiful, but I do not like driving the curvy roads all the time. I prefer Florida anytime. The mountains are beautiful to look at, but that's about it for me. | |
| | what a beautiful weekend, it's grilling time | | It's just a gorgeous spring day. In beautiful East Tennessee, It's suppose to be in the 8o's today and sunny. Great day to get some yard work done, invite some friends over for the late afternoon. And just kick back and relax. Put some hamburgers on the grill, I love the smell of cooking on the grill. What are your plans for fantastic weekend? | |

| Melungeon! A historical and virtually unheard of race! | | Ok..I have lived in East Tennessee all my life and just recently have been informed there is a race of people that live in the most eastern regions of my state. I heard a kid once mention with great pride his heritage as being Melungeon. I thought this was some sort of slang but no! There is an actual race Melungeon! Have you ever heard of these people? If not..google it and let me know what you find out. I have read they are from the Europeon/Native American descent..then I read they were English/Native American/African American descent..then I read they were from all of the above. Help me find out where these people are from. I am very intrigued by this by no means "new race".Do you know of any Melungeons where you are? | |
| | Glad it is over | | For the past month and a half we have been on the go constantly. It started with Thanksgiving and did not stop until New Year day. The constant holiday rush. We have enjoyed the time but we now need a rest after going to Chicago 2 times from our East Tennessee home, hosting 3 parties in our new home not to mention the cleaning preparation and decoration that is necessary before and after these events. Although I do love the holidays I am glad tehy are over for now and that we can take a while to unwind. How about you? | |

| I am a southern girl | | I come from the south deep in east Tennessee...
Grass so green underneath me...
Stars above and wishing wells....
Dirt roads and fishing holes...
I am just a country girl...
I live in my world...
Honey from bee's this is me...
Wild black berries growing free...
Strawberry wine and cherry tree...Farm lands and mountains singing high...
Country churches and Jesus walks...
Where the people listen when your heart talks...
Birds flying so high...
I want a piece of my mama's pie...Sweet music and small town hearts...
Places where it gets so dark...
On a back road he run out of gas...
Trying to lie to kiss me at last...Ferriswheels and late night movie thrills...
Children are angels...
This where I light my candle...
Late night dances under the stars...
Did I kiss him to soon...Underneath the southern Tennessee moon.... | |
