| | Detroit Red Wings: Retired Jerseys | | If you look up into the rafters at Joe Louis Arena, you'll see six banners hanging in honor of some of the club's greatest players. #9 - Gordie Howe
#12 - Sid Abel
#7 - Ted Lindsay
#10 - Alex Delvecchio
#1 - Terry Sawchuck
#19 - Steve YzermanA scarcely known fact is that there are also three other numbers that the Detroit hockey club has retired, but does not have banners in the arena to honor the players who wore them.First, and understandably so, is Wayne Gretzky's #99. The number was retired league wide after he finished his career.Second, and most recently, #16. Vladimir Konstantinov. He was bound for greatness and was probably the most feared defenseman in the league until a car accident ended his career and nearly took his life.Third, and probably someone who none of today's fans would remember, #6. Larry Aurie. This was one of the first players to really excel while sporting the winged wheel. He was part of the first all-star team, and played a huge role in the first two Stanley Cup Championships that Detroit won. | Western Conference Finals: Detroit Red Wings vs Anaheim Ducks | | After a stellar turnaround in their series with the Sharks, the Wings are now in the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2002. Thanks Barry for not jinxing us like you have in the past!)Series Schedule:Game 1: Friday, May 11: 7:30 @ Detroit
Game 2: Sunday, May 13: 7:30 @ Detroit
Game 3: Tuesday, May 15: 9:00 @ Anaheim
Game 4: Thursday, May 17: 9:00 @ Anaheim

| | The Detroit Red Wings will move on to Round 3:-) | | We just beat San Jose and we're finally done with them...next will be the Mighty Ducks...they're currently in 2nd place and we're in 1st...so it should be pretty close...I already feel nervous... I think the first game of Round 3 will be on Friday night...so it's gonna be a boring week until then. Who thinks the Wings will win the next round and move on to play for the STANLEY CUP?? | |

Both are amazing1 Before Ovie, Backstrom, and Semin the only way the Caps could get to the playoffs was to buy a ticket!
