Would he still stay with the Mavericks? Would he demand to be traded? Or will he retire? For the past decade, Kidd is arguably the best point guard in the NBA. He led the New Jersey Nets to the NBA Finals twice and made the Nets a solid playoffs and finals contender in the Eastern Conference. With his second stint with the Dallas Mavericks, Kidd was hopeful to finally win his well deserved NBA title but after one and a half season and 2 playoffs with the Mavericks, Kidd was disappointed. Kidd was 1-3 (series) with the Mavericks in the playoffs since returning to the team on February of 2008. At 37 years of age, Kidd is still playing at a high level of basketball, and he's just completed the first of his $25 million 3 year contract with the Mavericks. There's no doubt that Kidd could still play but the question would be, is he still happy with Dallas? Does he still think that Dallas would be the team that could give him that title? Dallas is notoriously known to be a poor and upset favorite team in the playoffs and in... | |
| | Texas Battle: Dallas Mavericks vs San Antonio Spurs | | Everyone is rooting for the Lakers and the Cavs barging into the finals.. How about this Texas powerhouse teams that have also a mix of young and veteran players. This series is also a great series with Dirk Nowitzi against Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili against Caron Butler and Jason Terry against Jason Terry. This is a very good matchup in the West. I think that these will be a seven game series with the Mavs winning. | |
| | NBA, The Dallas Mavericks, and Dirk Nowitzki | | I am a die hard fan of the Dallas Mavericks for 8 years now or maybe 9. It saddens me that up to now they still haven't won a championship. But that doesn't affect my devotion and support to the team. My love and enthusiasm to the team started when I first saw Dirk Nowitzki play his rookie year with the Mavs. Yes, his first season with the Mavs. He hasn't played many games during that season but i saw his potential. I saw his talent. And i saw myself in him. He's a shy type of person. A modest one. Just like me. But I don't have his basketball talents. lol. He conquered all the obstacles to fulfill his dreams. I have witnessed Dirk Nowitzki's transformation from a nobody to a somebody. A role player to a star player. An all star to a super star. And captured MVP award in the NBA. He's now in his prime and soon he will retire and leave the mavs and nba. I want him to win a championhip ring as a Maverick. I hope he will. I thought when he will leave the Mavs via trade I wouldn't be a mavs fan anymore. When he will retire i thought i won't be an nba fan anymore. So just a thought, am i not a true nba fan? Not a true Dallas mavericks fan? But im sure im a Dirk Nowizki fan for life.:)... | |

| | | What now for the Dallas Mavericks? | | After losing in the first round for the second year in the row, the Dallas Mavericks are in a bind. Just two seasons ago, the Dallas Mavericks were the Western Conference champs. They fell short to eventual champs Miami Heat after leading the series 2 - 0. Last year, they went down against the Golden State Warriors and this year they fell to the younger New Orleans Hornets. They have already fired their coach Avery Johnson and are unsure about what to do with Jason Kidd. The team received a lot of flak for trading for Kidd. Dallas gave up a young point guard in Devin Harris and now have no tradeable assets except for maybe Josh Howard and the #15 pick. Recently, Josh Howard also got into controversy after admitting in a radio show that he took marijuana. Personally, I think the move to replace Avery Johnson is a very good one. Although, I have no idea who Dallas can get as a coach, a couple names are being floated, this is the most sensible step. Clearly, the coach has lost touch with this players and this bodes ill to any professional team. As for Jason Kidd, he amy be a step slower but the experience and leadership he brings to Dallas is invaluable. I think it's simply a way... | |
| | | | Are The Dallas Mavericks In Packing Mode? | | The Mav's took another hit tonight lossing to the Jazz. So now they can place that atop the pile of western great teams that they have been beaten by. That pile including loses to the Spurs and Lakers, possible playoff matchups. They traded for Kidd and he has been progressing well with them, but so far they are not a high caliber team or winning for that matter. In my opinion.. the west is much to deep with stellar teams, and does not leave room for any struggles. And struggling is most surely what the Mav's are going thru. If they keep lossing, they may be in possible danger of missing the playoffs completely. Should the Mav's be hitting panick mode now? Or is it too soon to tell? | |
| | How Will DeSagana Diop's Absence Affect the Dallas Mavericks? | | The Dallas Mavericks these past few seasons have shown they are a solid team capable of reaching the end of the playoffs race, even in the light of their disappointing exit against the Golden State Warriors in their last campaign. Part of this solid lineup was DeSagana Diop, who was sent to the New Jersey Nets along with valuable young point guard Devin Harris. While discussions of the trade emphasized the Mavericks' decision to let go of a great future guard in Harris in exchange for a tried and tested All Star (and probable future Hall of Famer) in Kidd, there also is the fact that they lost a valuable center in Diop. The 26-year-old, 7-feet-tall Senegalese center split time with Erick Dampier at the five position and his role got even more important when they lost their other center in DJ Mbenga (now with the Los Angeles Lakers). The trade left them thin at center, and they had to sign former All Star Jamaal Magloire to fill in their big man needs. Can Magloire fill the shoes of Diop? The latter was considered a great defensive presence down the block, being one of the best shot-blockers per 48 minutes right now in the NBA. One of his best performances was in the seventh... | |
