Happy Marriage Good For Blood Pressure
Having problems with your blood pressure? Be happily married. A recent study reported by the Annals of Behavioral Medicine has shown that a happy marriage is good for your blood pressure. The flip side is that a stressful one can be worse than being single. The study, which was conducted by researcher Julianne Holt-Lunstad of the Brigham Young University, involved 204 married people and 99 single adults. Study volunteers wore devices that recorded their blood pressure at random times over 24 hours. Married participants also filled out questionnaires regarding their marriage. The study found out that those who had happy marriages had lower average blood pressure over the past 24 hours and during the day. Those who were dissatisfied with their marriages had higher average blood pressure than single people did. According to Holt-Lunstad, it would take further study to find out what the results mean for long-term health.

BYU Singers
Last night we went to the Pretoria University to watch the BYU (Brigham Young University) Singers perform... They were great... I am not one for going to watch choirs and things but these young people were excellent. Some of the music I did not have such a great appreciation for but others were just the best. I really appreciate people who have the ability to share and bless the lives of others with their talents.Do you know who the BYU Singers are? Have you watched them perform or listened to one of their CD's? Please let me know what your thoughts are on the BYU Singers.
Do you think success of marriage depends on wealth you possess?
Do you think success of marriage depends on wealth you possess?Increasing levels of debt and bankruptcies are frequently blamed for divorces and conflict within a marriage. But new Brigham Young University research suggests that marital woes that can result from financial ups and downs have as much to do with a couple’s expectations as their pay checks and credit card bills
Is mormon religion real, in fact is any religion real
I am born muslim in morocco. I moved to the states when I was 18 for college. I've been to many places and went through lots of change, emotionally and spiritually. The biggest chock I had was while going to brigham young university. I discovered that mormonism is fake, in the same way I concluded that all religions follow the same path to spread a lie. I believe in a god, but really think religion is purely man made. Do you agree?
Mitt Romney 2008 - Can a Mormon be president?
I think Mitt Romney may be the next U.S. president. He was the Republican governor from Massachusetts. He is a Mormon. There has never been a Mormon president. Can Romney be the first? He has filed with the Federal Election Commission, allowing him to raise money for the 2008 Republican nomination. Willard Mitt Romney was born March 12, 1947 in Detroit. He is the son of George Romney, a 1968 presidential candidate. He and his wife, Ann, have 5 sons. Ann has multiple sclerosis. Romney has a B.A. from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He co-founded Bain Capital, an equity investment firm, and made a fortune, helping to start Staples office-supply. He ran for the U.S. Senate in 1994 but lost to Ted Kennedy. He was elected governor of Massachusetts in 2002 and served a four-year term. Romney has conservative values, a Republican governor in a liberal state. With veterans returning from Iraq, there need to be adequate benefits and health care. Romney supports veterans. He was the first Massachusettes governor to appoint a secretary of veterans' affairs. He developed the Welcome Home Bill which gave National Guardsmen free tuition at...
Do You Have A Hunger For Knowledge?
I was reading the Feb 15th copy of The Wall Street Journal about continuing ones education. I goes into great detail about all the online classes that are now available for free from many universities. I was amazed at the list of Universities that are doing this. The article is titled “Top Universities Put Instruction on the Web”Colleges that offer free online classes include Stanford University. Last fall, This University posted the complete lectures for three courses, The literature of Crisis, the Historical Jesus and Modern Theoretical Physics. Stanford plans on making complete lectures for a dozen classes available on the I tunes U site by the end of 2007.I know BYU offers many free online classes. I have taken many of them in the past. I love the fact that I can do things at my own rate and any time I want to. http://ce.byu.edu/is/site/courses/freecourses.cfm These classes include Family History/Genealogy - Introductory Finding Your Ancestors Providing Temple Ordinances for Your Ancestors Introduction to Family History Research Helping Children Love Your Family HistoryFamily History/Genealogy - Record Type Family Records Vital Records Military...
What College Did You Go To? What Was Your Major?
I went to Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho (now BYU-Idaho). It's a private church run school smack dab in the middle of potato country. I graduated class of 1999.I was a paramedic major. We spent our days and nights learning everything we needed to know to save your life, let you go or fix the booboo that just couldn't wait til morning. We also did Search and Rescue training in the Grand Teton Mountains. High Angle, White Water, Cave & Mine and Wilderness SAR was some of the greatest times of our college life.Until you have swam the white water of Hoback Junction, midnight on Halloween Night, during a full lunar eclipse, you just haven't lived!:~DSo, where did you go to college? What was your major? Are you working in that field now?
forgive
In Doctrine & Covenants 42:24-26 and in 98:39-45 there appears to be some circumstances where we are commanded not to forgive those who have committed offenses against us. Talks, lessons, and articles about forgiving others never seem to mention these facts. Brigham Young and others of his time taught that we have an obligation to not forgive the un-repentant. What are your thoughts?
