Boston College stuns No. 1 North Carolina 85-78
An unranked Boston College defeated the unstoppable North Carolina Tarheels 85-78. With there record 13-1 and in ACC 0-1 how will the Tarheels bounce back from this lost? Is Tyler Hansbrough the real deal or will he be another Eric Montross? As far for Boston College Tyrese Rice and Rakim Sanders were the playmakers for the Eagles, and who knows they may be a team not to take to likely.
2009-10 College Football Preseason Predictions!
As the 2009-10 College Football season approaches, It is safe to say that there will still not be a playoffs this year or for years to come. But, that does not take away the excitement, passion, and the tradition of rival games away from the sport itself. All the controversy behind the BCS computer ranking system, the polls, and Conference Presidents, Chancellors, and Commissioners is the reason why there will never be a playoff, and it is not OK! One main reason that there will be no playoffs is because several conferences had bowl deals before the BCS was created in 1998, which tells me that most schools will prefer to have a bowl game at the end of the year regardless on how good or bad thier season may have been, as long as they win 6 games. The problem is the elite conferences may get thier 3rd through 6th place teams in a bowl game from automatic bids over a Non BCS conference 1st and 2nd place team. What's really funny is the Non BCS conferences schools have to be good over a span of 4 years before they can be considered to play in a BCS Bowl game, schools like Utah and Boise State. That's what I call friendship football at it's finest, but even I can't deny that there are...
UNC vc BC, Saturday, 12:00 noon
In Atlantic Coast Conference play this weekend, the University of North Carolina Tar Heels play host to the Boston College Eagles. The Tar Heels are currently 5-2 overall and 1-2 in the Coastal Division. The Eagles sit atop the Atlantic Division with a record of 5-1 overall and 2-1 in league play. The TarHeels lost a heartbreaker in overtime to Virginia last week. Boston College some how overcame 5 turnovers to pull out a victory at home against Virginia Tech. I'll be honest with you, I am a Tar Heel fan, but if BC commits 5 turnovers in Chapel Hill this weekend, it will be a long flight home for the Eagles. Rarely does a team turn the ball over that often and come out with a win, at any level. Carolina's two loses have come by a total of 6 points. They lost at Virgina Tech (20-17)after leading the entire game and outplaying the Hokies in every category, except the one that counts most. Likewise, the Heels led entire game against Virginia until the Wahoo's scored with less than a minute to play to tie the game at 10 all.It should be a closely contested game this weekend. Both teams need one more win to become bowl eligible this season. The last time Carolina played in...
Hey New England, whichis the most important story, Pats or Sox?
Or is it Boston College? The Pats are undefeated, The Sox are in the Series and Boston College is in the hunt.I am a Red Sox fan but I am not from New England so I thought I ask.
History of Boston
Boston was founded on September 17, 1630 by Puritan colonists from England.[5] The Puritans of the Massachusetts Bay Colony are sometimes confused with the Pilgrims who founded Plymouth Colony ten years earlier in what is today Bristol County, Plymouth County, and Barnstable County, Massachusetts. The two groups are historically distinct and differed in religious practice. The separate colonies were not united until the formation of the Province of Massachusetts Bay in 1691.Boston was established on a peninsula called Shawmoot by its original Native American inhabitants. The peninsula was connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus, and surrounded by the waters of Massachusetts Bay and the Back Bay, an estuary of the Charles River. Several prehistoric Native American archaeological sites excavated in the city have shown that the peninsula was inhabited as early as 5,000 BC.[12] Boston's early European settlers first called the area Trimountaine, but later renamed the town after Boston, Lincolnshire, England, from which several prominent colonists emigrated. Massachusetts Bay Colony's original governor, John Winthrop, gave a famous sermon entitled "A Model of Christian...
William goes to Wyoming
In a follow up to another discussion I posted previously. Bill Ayers was invited then dis invited to the University of Wyoming, here is what happened -[i]CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — A judge who served as a Marine in Vietnam ruled Tuesday the University of Wyoming must allow William Ayers to speak on campus, but also expressed disdain for an anti-war group co-founded by the former radical that claimed responsibility in the 1960s for a series of nonfatal bombings.U.S. District Judge William Downes issued his ruling, saying a free society must both exercise and guarantee free speech rights."I can scarcely swallow the bile of my contempt" for the Weather Underground, the judge said. "But the fact is Mr. Ayers is a citizen of the United States who wishes to speak, and he need not offer any more justification than that."Ayers, a professor at the University of Illinois-Chicago, co-founded the Weather Underground during the Vietnam War era.The university had cited safety concerns in not allowing him to speak at a campus event Wednesday. But Downes said that the threats of violence the university reported receiving were too vague to warrant denying Ayers' right to speak on...
Outrage over crucifixes hung in classrooms
Boston College in the crosshairsAnother fark add lol. http://spedr.com/4hpfzNot a referral linkThis is one of the stupidest things I have ever seen, more after the jump hehehe. Some Boston College professors and students are raising a holy ruckus over the Catholic school’s return to its religious roots by hanging crucifixes in all its classrooms, calling the move “offensive” and a break from the Jesuit tradition of tolerance.“There is no choice if you don’t think it’s appropriate. You can’t turn it around,” said biology professor Dan Kirschner, faculty adviser for BC’s chapter of Hillel, a Jewish student group. “I think it is being insensitive to the people of other faith traditions here.”Amir Hoveyda, head of BC’s chemistry department, blasted the school in an e-mail to the Herald for “not being interested in an exchange with its faculty members.”In an interview with the college newspaper, The Observer, which broke the story, Hoveyda described the crucifixes as “offensive” and the university’s actions as “anti-intellectual.”“I can hardly imagine a more effective way to denigrate the faculty of an educational institution,”...
What to do when you can't help your kids in school...no matter how old they are!
At the ripe old age of 40...lol..my daughter is graduating from Boston College in a few weeks and had to do a last paper for one of her Government classes. She asked me for some input and now I'm looking for some "unbiased" input from mylotters. She's trying to equate our Government, or anyone's government I guess, with maturity. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out where she's going with this but she's been an A student all these years and I'm not going to question her now. She wants to know if this definition of maturity would be suitable for her to use in her analogy. Of course I want to tell her that it's perfect but then she's my daughter right? What Is Maturity What is maturity? Maturity is the ability to control anger and settle differences without violence or destruction. Maturity is patience. It is the willingness to pass up immediate pleasure in favor of the long-term gain. Maturity is perseverance, the ability to sweat out a project or a situation in spite of heavy opposition and discouraging set-backs. Maturity is the capacity to face unpleasantness and frustration, discomfort and defeat, without complaint or collapse. Maturity is humility. It is being...
Professor Fired for telling students to defend themselves
A professor at a Boston College was fired for reportlly telling his students that if they found themselves in a Virgina Tech shooting situtation to fight back. To make his point he pointed a pointer at the class and said bang. Many security experts are now recommending that shcools teach students to fight back. The experts say that students could throw text books or anything at the gunman and try to over power him/her. Do you think this is a good idea to teach people to defend themselves?
The Brilliance of Islamic Civilization
One quality acquired from Islam's morality is the high sense of art & esthetic. The Quranic depictions of Paradise are pictures of highest quality, finest taste, & stunning grandeur. Muslims had this sense of art in their hearts, which is reflected in their work, & thus the lands they ruled became the world's most modern & select regions. When Islam spread outward in all directions, it brought properity & development with it.Muslims took civilization wherever they went. They designed on effective water purification system for the drinking water requirements of a Tunisian town.Water was stilled & purified in 1 large basins & then brought into the town by an enclosed pipe system. Only centuries later did Europeans began to concern themselves with such things. Muslim engineers in Syria designed a fantastic system of watermills to deliver water to the cities.Tha capital of the Islamic world, Baghdad, was the world's most splendid & modern city. Urban planning & architecture were stunning. A traveler visiting Baghdad wrote the following: --All the exquisite neighborhoods covered with parks, gardens, villas & beautiful promenade are filled with bazaars &...
