Randy Johnson going back to the Arizona Diamondbacks
After a few years struggling in New York for the Yankees, Randy Johnson will be heading back to Arizona with a big contract extension to finish out his ML career. Do you think he will do well back in AZ? Is the 43-year old getting too far up there in years to have great success? Maybe you think this is just a publicity stunt by the Diamondbacks? I am interested in seeing how people feel that this one will play out in 2007.
What is your favorite baseball team?
I don't just have one. I have 4. my first was The Mets. I love all the guys and it was great to see them win in 1986. I also love The Dodgers.Tommy Lasorta is my man and when I started rooting for them,Fernando Valenzuela was their pitcher.i loved him too. And then Mike Piazza was a Dodger too. Yummy. And lately, ever since 2003, I have become a Red Sox fan,my 1st and only American League team. Why? Simple. any team that hates the Yeankees as much as I do, I have to root for.And it was great timing because Kirk Schilling was a Red Sox and they were to Finally win the World Series. And last but not least, The Washington Nationals. They sre the local team and they may not be that good but they do have heart. What is your favorite team? And Yankees fans, I will not hold your choice against you. I am just curious.
Playoffs 2007
And the winner will be.... Who are your picks to make it to the World Series? and who will win it all? why?(my pics are Cubbies and Red Sox, w/Cubbies killing their curse! I just think after 100 seasons, it is their time!)
Someone didnt get the memo
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2010/05/03/mexicans-hold-noses-shop-arizona-despite-anger-immigration-law/?test=latestnewsNOGALES, Mexico — The line of Mexicans waiting to go shopping in Arizona snakes twice around the sun-drenched plaza, even as politicians nearby slap stickers on cars calling for a boycott of the U.S. state. And the illegal migrants targeted by a tough new Arizona law dismiss it as just another obstacle that pales in comparison to the extortion, arrests and kidnappings they already risk to reach U.S. soil. They vow to keep on coming.Resentment has erupted throughout Mexico over the immigration law in Arizona that is considered racist here. But crossing back and forth between the countries is so intrinsic to their lives that many Mexicans find it hard to give it up despite calls by immigration activists for a boycott of Arizona."Border cities depend on each other and it has been that way for many years," said Maria Romero, a nurse from Nogales, which lies across from the Arizona town of the same name. "It seems they don't understand that on the other side and are always looking for ways to make things more difficult."There are few signs so far...
General Hospital - comings and goings
The new Kristian will appear on June 4th. Dominic Zamprogna comes to GH as Dominic to assist Claudia with one of her schemes on June 22.The Arizona Diamondbacks’ first baseman Conor Jackson will play Michael’s physical therapist on June 3. Emma Samms is sticking around until June 2 to finish her stint as Holly. The truth about Rebecca may finally be revealed, as Helena, played by Constance Towers, returns to Port Charles to confront Emily's look-a-like on June 4.June 4th will be a busy day! Glad to hear that Holly will be leaving soon I'm not to fond of the story line between her Luke and Ethan. I like the dynamics of Ethan and Luke but not when Holly is around. What are your thoughts?!?h other and it has been that way for many years," said Maria Romero, a nurse from Nogales, which lies across from the Arizona town of the same name. "It seems they don't understand that on the other side and are always looking for ways to make things more difficult."There are few signs so far that the bill has deterred Mexicans from crossing into Arizona — legally or not. The wait to drive across the border is more than two...
Rockies vs. Red Sox
This series could be the best series in baseball history. The Colorado Rockies, winners of 21 of their last 22 games, against the Boston Red Sox, with the best pitcher and most powerful line-up in the game. Many will concider this to be an easy win for the Red Sox. Hold the phone though, the Rockies took a 3 game series from the Red Sox earlier this year, at Fenway Park. And the Rockies just didn't face anyone in Boston's strong rotation. They faced the knuckleballer Tim Wakefield, the new Mr. October Josh Beckett, and the postseason master, Curt Schilling. The Rockies, a team with virtually a bunch of nobody's, have truly defined the word "team" by coming up with clutch hitting and precision pitching. The Rockies also swept through the playoffs knocking off the heavily favored Philidelphia Phillies in the Divisional round and then took care of the best team in the National League, the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Rockies are on a roll like no one has ever seen before. Can they sweep the series? I don't think so. I can see them losing Game 1 because of the 8 day lay off. However, the Red Sox have been down this road before. In 2004, they swept the Angels then went down 3-0 to the...
The World Series!
We are down to:Arizona Diamondbacks Colorado Rockies Boston Red Sox Cleveland Indians/New York YankeesSo who is will win?I think the Red Sox have the best set up to win it and I am picking them but the Rockies are on fire! As usual, never count out NY until they are actual eliminated!
Davis to Arizona, Estrada to Milwaukee in 6-player deal
The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired left-hander Doug Davis from Milwaukee on Saturday in a six-player deal that sent catcher Johnny Estrada to the Brewers. Right-handers Greg Aquino and Claudio Vargas also went to Milwaukee, while the Diamondbacks obtained a pair of youngsters, left-hander Dana Eveland and outfielder Dave Krynzel. The 31-year-old Davis is 62-63 with a 4.35 ERA in eight major league seasons. He was 11-11 with a 4.91 ERA in 34 starts last season with Milwaukee and, like Estrada, is arbitration eligible. The 30-year-old Estrada hit .301 with 11 home runs and 71 RBIs during his only season with Arizona. The switch-hitting former All-Star had the sixth-best batting average among NL catchers. Starting pitching behind NL Cy Young Award winner Brandon Webb was a major weakness for the Diamondbacks last season. Davis, who has thrown at least 200 innings in each of the last three seasons, joins Webb and Livan Hernandez in Arizona's projected rotation for next year. "With the addition of Doug we have three perennial 200-inning guys who more often than not are lower ERA guys," Diamondbacks general manager Josh Byrnes said. "I think our rotation is...

Diamondbacks trade C Estrada to Brewers for LHP Davis
The Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday acquired catcher Johnny Estrada from the Arizona Diamondbacks for lefthanded starter Doug Davis in a six-player deal. The Brewers also received righthanders Claudio Vargas and Greg Aquino, while the Diamondbacks got lefthander Dana Eveland and minor league center fielder David Krynzel. Estrada, 30, hit .302 with 11 homers and 71 RBI in his first season with Arizona in 2006. A 2004 National League All-Star with the Atlanta Braves, Estrada has a .280 average, 32 homers and 227 RBI in six major league seasons with the Diamondbacks, Braves and Philadelphia Phillies. "Estrada has been a very good offensive catcher during his career," Brewers general manager Doug Melvin said. "His ability to switch-hit and his high contact-low strikeout approach is something that the Brewers' offense has been missing." Estrada will take over the starting catcher role from 37-year-old Damian Miller, who hit .251 in 101 games and exercised his player option for 2007. Estrada became available due to the emergence of 25-year-old Chris Snyder, who hit .277 with six homers and 32 RBI in 184 at-bats. Arizona also has top prospect Miguel Montero...
